Wild & Scenic Film Festival
The Wild & Scenic Film Festival is a collection of films that speak to the environmental concerns and celebrations of our planet. In 2003 the Wild & Scenic Film Festival was started by the South Yuba River Citizens League, a watershed advocacy group. Its international tour to over 200 communities around the globe allows SYRCL to share its success as an environmental group with other organizations. The festival is building a network of grassroots organizations connected by a common goal of using film to inspire activism. The Blue Mountain Land Trust is thrilled to bring the Wild & Scenic International Film Festival to Walla Walla. “Films featured at Wild & Scenic give people a sense of place,” says Linda Herbert, BMLT’s vice president. “When we realize that the change we need in this world begins with us, we start making a difference. Please join us and get inspired!” In concurrence with this year’s film festival, we are proud to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the Wild & Scenic River Act. The Wild & Scenic River Act protects rivers with natural, cultural, and recreational values for the enjoyment of present and future generations. Join us on Friday, April 13th from 7 PM to 10 PM at Maxey Auditorium, Whitman College. Tickets are available at bmlt.org. Tickets are $20 for adults and free for children (17 and under). The Blue Mountain Land Trust is delighted to host this festival with the assistance of Banner Bank, Nelson Irrigation Corporation, and US Forest Service. It is a natural extension of our work to inspire people to act on behalf of the environment.
